Woodcuts | Xilogravura

The fortunate event of being allowed to attend Pedro Sanchez's Xilogravura classes at EBA-UFRJ has been a turning point in my Printmaking learnings. The versatility of the medium, the cost friendly materials . Glimpsing the inner workings of the rebellious art form of Lambe-Lambe - the street art bomber technique.

 

I think after Stone Lithography , I have found Xilos to be very relaxing and meditative. The act of mark making with any tool that can scrape wood to the glorious finesse detailing with Pfeil Lino/wood carving sets... to discovering that on Friday at the neighbourhood wood shop, you can pick up any piece of discarded wood and MDF pieces for free, I can't believe it took me this long to discover the joys of xilogravura.
